In July we took our toddlers, ages 1 and 2, to Disney World for their 2nd time. We caught a lot of flack from our friends and family reminding us…

About Me

About Me

Hey Y'all! I'm Lauren! Vacation planning enthusiast, wife of an amazing husband who is willing to succumb to my every wanderlust need. And mom to the cutest little baby boy (3) and baby girl (2). We travel often using credit card points and miles. Follow along for tips on cutting travel costs with points and miles plus detailed destination guides and itineraries. I want to provide encouragement and inspiration for the parents out there that hesitate to travel with their young children! The lessons kids learn from traveling (adaptability, patience, & adventure, to name a few) are worth every effort to travel as a family. And the memories made by us parents, are invaluable. Thanks for following!

New Blog post is up 🚨. I’m aware sharing blog New Blog post is up 🚨. I’m aware sharing blog posts about traveling might come across as tone-deaf right now. There’s so much uncertainty when it comes to travel in 2021. And to be honest, I’m sharing this mainly to pathetically pat myself on the back for finally finishing my first blog post in nearly 5 months. My motivation to write about our travels in 2020 was equivalent to my motivation to do laundry over binge watching Gossip Girl 🤦🏻‍♀️. #nonexistent (and #notproud
of my very embarrassing #guiltypleasure 😬)
And I totally understand if you aren’t up for reading “10 Fun things to do in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.” No hard feelings here.

But for me, I will say the new year brought new motivation to get s$:t done. And just because we don’t know what the future holds when it comes to travel in 2021, doesn’t mean we can’t plan and be ready to go when it feels safe to you to hop on that plane. I’m hopeful that come Summer/Fall, with enough vaccines dispersed, the travel industry will begin to make its come back.

Well, 30 minutes of flurries just 👏🏼 isn’t Well, 30 minutes of flurries just 👏🏼 isn’t 👏🏼going 👏🏼to cut it. So I’m taking matters into my own hands 🥰. In just a few weeks we’ll be headed to Winter Park Colorado...where I can guarantee these kiddos some snow ❄️ ❄️❄️. I was hoping this was going to be the year I took them skiing for the first time. But, because of covid, ski school is closed right now. 😫 I’m sure most ski towns are quite a bit different than usual due to covid numbers. Has anyone been to the mountains yet this winter season? How did covid affect your ski-trip?
Jimmie watching a hermit crab come out of his shel Jimmie watching a hermit crab come out of his shell 💙. It may sound corny, but with each of our trips, I witness Jimmie coming out of his own shell more and more.

I don’t think I’ve mentioned this before, but for the past 6 weeks Jimmie has been receiving speech and occupational therapy through Pediatrics Plus. He’s gone through multiple evaluations and still has 3 more ahead of him. It’s been emotionally exhausting to say the least...I’m trying to suppress the worry, yet I still have sooo many questions with very few answers.
It’s been a balancing act between patience and persistence:
Too much patience without enough persistence leads to a blind acceptance of what is.
Too much persistence without enough patience leads to frustration and anxiety. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Anyway, I’m hopeful that in the coming weeks we will get some more answers and at the very least, get him set up with all the right therapies he’ll need to thrive.

Hope everyone is having a good year thus far. We’re a whole 6 days in!

While his sloth apparel is hardly my jam, I have to admit, they always serve as a good reminder. To regularly unplug from social media. To focus on my “stop-doing” list rather than my to-do list. To slow down and just be present. Who knew a t-shirt can have such power 🤷🏻‍♀️?

I want to thank everyone for all the overwhelming I want to thank everyone for all the overwhelming love, comments, messages and well wishes over the last several days. I haven’t been able to respond to all of them, but please know they are very much appreciated. You all are so supportive and that’s what I love about this insta-travel community 💕. I’ve continued to have no symptoms and my second PCR test came back negative! 🙌🏼🎉 I’m excited to have made it to the home stretch of my 10-day quarantine, just in time to celebrate Christmas with these two babies 👦🏼👧🏻.
I made the choice to share my story because of the many questions I’ve gotten about symptoms, testing, etc. If I can offer even the tiniest bit of information to someone sitting at home, anxious about what they are feeling, then sharing this was worth it.

Keep safe and healthy, friends! Wash your hands, wear a mask, & practice social distancing...Not just for yourself, but for your loved ones 💕
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!! 🎄🥰❄️

Well, I’m Positive...and not the good kind of po Well, I’m Positive...and not the good kind of positive. 😫 The news came as a complete shock, as I’ve had no covid symptoms and, to my knowledge, haven’t had any direct exposures. I got tested earlier in the week in preparation for some family coming in town for Christmas.
While it’s far from ideal, it could certainly be worse. Fortunately the kid’s pcr tests and Will’s rapid test all came back negative. We are still waiting on Will’s PCR lab test (which tend to be more accurate than rapid tests).
In the meantime, I’m isolating myself from them in our guest room. My quarantine will end on Christmas Eve. Will has been bringing me meals while also playing single parent to our 2 and 4 year old. He’s my rock ❤️.
If there is one thing I’ve learned from this, it’s that testing is so important in stopping the spread and saving lives. Had I not gotten the test “just in case”, I would have unknowingly been spreading the virus to my loved ones.

Stay safe and healthy, friends. 💙 and Check out my stories for more updates

P.S. this photo was from earlier this year on our trip to Sicily in February. We made it home just before the coronavirus began to gain a lot of attention in northern Italy. Before the word ‘pandemic,’ and masks and social distancing and quarantine, and testing. You know, the good ole days. ❤️ #covidpositive

Each year, the holidays get more and more magical with these two around. Watching their excitement of stumbling upon Santa’s sleigh, or simply driving around looking at Christmas lights...it gives me so much Joy to watch them experience the magic❤️. The pandemic has certainly taken its toll on some of our holiday traditions, parties & gatherings😢. But I refuse to let it get me down. There’s just too much to be thankful for. We are now making new traditions and We even got snow last night y’all❄️🙌🏼!!
I Hope you are all having a wonderful holiday season thus far ...and keeping your spirits bright 😉🥰

Who needs snowflakes ❄️ when you have seashell Who needs snowflakes ❄️ when you have seashells 🐚? .....more like, lake-clams 🤷🏻‍♀️😊.
I admit I’m a bit jealous of the beautiful snowy pictures from all you Northerners right now. Unfortunately, we are never guaranteed snow here in Central Arkansas. The last time it snowed on Christmas Day was in 2012. We got 9 inches and it seriously was the best Christmas ever! 🎄
🌎
As for the seashells, we took the boat out over the weekend for the first time this winter season. Every year, Entergy drops the lake about 5 feet in the winter to help control the spread of certain underwater plants that interfere with recreation. As a result, there’s lots more shoreline and beaches to explore. Seashells and clams everywhere! 🙌🏼🥰🐚
